Q1: What is the purpose of this Smashing Pumpkins photo archive?

A: A photo archive is a great way to document the band’s history. This site can also be a great resource for fans who wish to create Smashing Pumpkins related graphics or album art.

This site is a continuation of Brian Barbour's Infinite Pictures Site, and I thank him for allowing me to use the contents of his website, and for supporting the continuation of the project. Since he is no longer able to update his gallery, I wanted to build upon his work so longtime and new fans can have access to a comprehensive Smashing Pumpkins photo archive. I am aiming to have most of the pictures uploaded before the release of Oceania.

Also, many of the digital pictures in the archive are over 15 years old, and I hope to acquire higher resolution pictures to replace them. Right now is a great time to build a photo archive since fans take many more photos at concerts, there is more photographic coverage at media events and the band is posting more pictures online. With your help, this site can be a useful source for anyone interested in The Smashing Pumpkins.

Q2: How many Smashing Pumpkins related pictures are on the site?

A: Here is the timeline of the development of the archive:

* April 2nd, 2012: 10,000 pictures
* November 29th, 2011: 9000 pictures
* October 10th, 2011: 8000 pictures
* September 2nd, 2011: 7000 pictures
* August 9th, 2011: 6000 pictures
* July 29th, 2011: 5000 pictures
* July 17th, 2011: 4000 pictures
* July 8th, 2011: 3000 pictures
* July 4th, 2011: 2000 pictures
* June 25th, 2011: 1000 pictures
* June 21st, 2011: 0 pictures

Q3: How can I help you to build a comprehensive Smashing Pumpkins photo archive?

A: If you would like to add new photographs to the archive or have higher-quality photos, feel free to e-mail your files to admin@bystarlight.org. I currently need assistance in acquiring high-resolution scans of all album artwork, screen captures of videos, magazine scans, live concert photos...and any picture that is not in the archive! Please specify how you would like to be credited when sending me pictures :) Alternatively, you can add me as a friend on facebook and tag the user “SPpictures” on your photos and videos instead of e-mailing them to me.

Q4: What is your favourite picture from the entire archive?

A: I love, love, love the pictures from the photo shoot by Yelena Yemchuk that appeared in huH Magazine in 1995! I like dark and mysterious stuff :P You can read the full article where these pictures appear here.

Q5: How can I get credit for a picture that I took that is in the archive?

A:The owner of bystarlight.org does not knowingly intend or attempt to offend or violate any copyright or intellectual property rights of any entity.

If you are a copyright owner, authorized to act on behalf of one, or authorized to act under any exclusive right under copyright, please report alleged copyright infringements taking place on or through this website to admin@bystarlight.org
